I saw a great band perform this week. Their name is Chairlift. I heard about them from my buddies in MGMT, and Chairlift certainly lived up [to what I was told]. Cross CSS with some Ladytron, maybe add a little 80’s New Wave, and you’ve got Chairlift. They’re out of Brooklyn, New York and have shared the stage with MGMT and Boy Crisis (another band you should definitely keep your eye on). Anyway, for Chairlift’s tour dates, check out the Kanine Records website.
I’m on my way right now to Blacksburg, Virginia to cover the one year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting. We are going to be speaking to students that experienced the tragedy last year as well as the class of freshmen who entered the school just a few months after it happened. We’re going there to give these kids a voice: to talk about what they went through, what they’re still going through, and how VA Tech has changed since.
Switching gears… some tracks to check out right now are Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love,” The Besnard Lakes‘ “For Agent 13,” and Lavender Diamond’s “Open Your Heart.”
Also, you better have the new Beach House album by now. If not, go get it!!!
